Device Compatibility

Most smartphones released from 2019 onward support eSIM, including:

  • Apple: iPhone XR / XS or newer
  • Google: Pixel 4 or newer
  • Samsung: Galaxy Fold or newer
  • Huawei: P40 or newer

Yes. Your device must be carrier-unlocked to install any eSIM from a foreign provider. If your phone is still locked to your home carrier, the eSIM will not install correctly.

On iPhone, you can check: Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock. It should say No SIM restrictions.

Yes. eSIM-compatible phones support dual SIM — your physical SIM and the GoVnSIM eSIM can run at the same time. You can keep your home number active for calls while using the eSIM for mobile data in Vietnam.

It depends on the plan:

  • Viettel eSIM: Data only — no Vietnam phone number included
  • MobiFone eSIM: Includes a local Vietnam number for calls and SMS
  • VinaPhone eSIM: Includes a local Vietnam number for calls and SMS

Before traveling is strongly recommended. You can install the eSIM at home while connected to Wi-Fi, so everything is ready when you land. In most cases, the data plan only starts counting when your device connects to the network in Vietnam — so installing early does not waste any usage time.

Ordering and Payment

No. Select your plan, complete payment, and receive your QR code by email. No passport upload or paperwork is required.
  1. Go to Vietnam eSIM Plans and choose your plan
  2. Add to cart and proceed to checkout
  3. Enter your email address and complete payment
  4. Your eSIM QR code will be sent to your email within minutes
GoVnSIM accepts Visa, Mastercard, JCB, UnionPay, Amex, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Cash payment is available if you visit our Hanoi office in person.
Contact us immediately with your order details and we will update your email and resend the eSIM:

Delivery and Activation

Your QR code is sent automatically to your email within 1 to 10 minutes after successful payment. If you do not see it, check your spam or junk folder before contacting support.
Your activation code (SM-DP+ address) is included in the same order confirmation email as your QR code. You will need this if you choose manual installation instead of scanning.
  • Viettel eSIM: Activates automatically when your device connects to the Viettel network in Vietnam
  • MobiFone eSIM: Starts based on the activation date selected at purchase, depending on the plan

Installing the eSIM before your flight does not start the plan early.

No. Each QR code can only be activated on one device. If you try to scan it again on a different phone it will not work. This is why you should never delete the eSIM without checking with support first.

Installation

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code → Scan the code from your email.

Android: Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIM Manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR code.
